Lollipop Birthday

Image
My daughter's second birthday is in about two weeks, and I am just beginning to plan. I am in charge of all the decorations and details, and I have so much to do! This next week or two will be all about making decorations for a lollipop birthday party. Although you could use the same concept and make it for any theme that you would like. So this is my attempt at creating a lollipop birthday party on a budget! The favors I will be making are paper lollipops. I will also attach a clear bag of jelly beans to each lollipop. First, you will need to get your material together. For this project, you will need: cookie sticks (Michael's Craft) scrapbook paper/ construction paper differnt colored ribbon Gems - optional (any craft store) hot glue gun Your fist step is to create your image. I used Microsoft Word to create mine. It was pretty easy to do! You can make yours say whatever you would like. You can also change the wording to make these into birthday p

Rolled Rosettes

Image
Rosettes are fun and easy to make. You can make them out of any scrap fabric you have laying around the house. They can be used with many different projects, i.e, headbands, hair clips, sewn onto tops, sewn onto purses, or pillows... Today's post is all about how to make rolled rosettes. First, you will need your material. I have my fabric, glue fun and scissors. Cut strips our of the fabric. the longer you make them, the bigger your flower will be. The ticker you cut your strips, the thicker the flower will be as well. I cut my strips thin, so that they would lay flatter, and not as thick. To start your rosette, you will need to tie a knot at the end of your fabric strips. Then start to roll and twist randomly.  It helped to me to hold the the flower between with my fingers as I was rolling/twisting.    You can dab a dot of glue every now and then to hold the rosette together. Once you get close to the end, dab some glue, and turn the leftover fabric on

Christmas Hand Wreath

Image
Need a last minute Christmas activity? How about this hand wreath? This is super easy and fun to make! All you need is construction paper, glue, and a scrap piece of ribbon. First, you will need to trace all the hands that you will be using. For our wreath, I traced Gia's hand and my hand. You only need to trace your hand once - although Gia had so much fun watching me trace her hand, that she wanted both of them done. :) (Aslo, you may want to use a thicker piece of paper to use as a tracer. I used resume paper that I had.) Once you have your starter hands traced and cut out, go ahead and trace them onto the paper you will be using for your wreath. You don't need to do every piece of paper, because you can stack 3 pieces when cutting out the hands. Once you have your papers with the traced hands, being to cut. As I said above, it is faster to stack three pieces together, then cut. Once you have all your cut out hands, shape the bigger hands into a circle... Get the look you w

Simple Black Baby Dress

Image
I had some extra fabric laying around from a skirt I made, so I wanted to try to make something for my daughter, Gia, with it. I had a little less than a yard to work with, and no pattern. I ended up using a dress that she has to get the shape I wanted. First, I laid the fabric down (folded in half) and cut out the new dress (allowing a little extra around the edges for seams.) Once you cut all the way around the dress, you should have two pieces. Keep these two together. Do this twice so that you have 4 pieces, keeping the sets together.. From there, fold each set in half to make sure the edges meet up. If there is more fabric on one side, trim it to match up. Now that you have two sets (dress A -top dress and dress B-liner), pin both dresses where the fabric is right sides together. Mark where the armhole starts, so that when you start to sew, you don't close the armholes. Now, we sew! I started at the armhole line and sewed down to the bottom. Do this for each side on

Construction Paper Flowers

My parents were out of town this weekend, so we house an d dog sat. The little one and I are still here waiting for them to get home today, so I thought we could make them something fun. We weren't going to leave the house because of the rain, so I looked around the house for something we could use. This project is really fun, espe cially if your little one(s) can help out. Mine only helped pick the colors. It will bring some fun color to this rainy day! This is what you will need: Different colored construction paper Pom, poms (I didn't have any, so I used cotton balls.) Bendable straws Glue Scissors Jar, cup or vase The first step is to pick out all your colors. Once you have those, you will need to draw or trace a flower on each paper. Do this with as many flowers as you would like. (You will need to have at least 6 petals on each flower.) Once you have all your flowers drawn, cut them out. Next, make a slit in between two petals towards the center of the flower, and cut
